Love life for the little things

    A melodic beat echoed through parts of the canyon, though it appeared no one heard them except for the noisemaker herself. Hugo wasn't quite sure where she was going, all she knew was that the chatter of a new spot for water and grazing was very important for her survival. It was already hard enough being on her own with no one there to watch her back, but now that resources were getting scarce, she couldn't risk losing an opportunity for developing a new spot to rebound from. The small pools she had become familiar with were growing smaller and smaller, not to mention grass was growing dry and shade was becoming more difficult to find.
    The draft mare snorted, shaking her large head at the difficulties she's been experiencing. All would get resolved eventually, so she tried to keep her head high along with her hopes and continue moving forward. Although the path was lulling considering all she heard were her own hoofbeats against the solid ground, she hated to admit that she enjoyed traveling. It was dangerous, of course, but a nice change of pace considering she had a goal. The useless wander she was so used to now had some kind of meaning, and to her, that was quite exciting. What was also exciting was that she knew she was getting closer by the smells. She could smell past the dry canyon and dirt that sifted through the air and instead smelt something sweet.
   Grass. And where there was grass, there must be water. Giddy, Hugo picked up a bouncy trot and could soon see the spring in front of her, just begging to be drank from. She could practically taste the water running down her throat, replenishing her thirst and her spirits.
