Season: Summer Year: One
Major Weather: The summer is starting to show signs of being one of the worst yet, with temperatures already climbing and the water beginning to dry up in the furthest reaches of the South.
Artemis' hooves easily thudded as she made her way along the great wall. her hooves left perfect arcs in the sand as she slowly walked. her long athletic legs were placed gracefully with each step. a soft breeze ruffled her long gray and white mane and tail. her ears were pricked forward; acoustics cupping the familiar noises that came with this area. birds chirped noisily in the trees; the air had the familiar brine scent that came off the water. fluffy white clouds drifted lazily across the robins blue sky. she paused a moment and raised her head to look up.
she could feel the warm sunshine on her ivory coat as she sighed happily. this was contentment. this was relaxation for her. her warm brown eyes scanned around. other horses have been along here recently though she wasn't sure just how recent they were. her long forelock blew over one eye shielding it from view as she proceeded onward.
she enjoyed exploring and this was no let down. this place was lovely and she could imagine spending most of her time here just gazing out over the water and the horizon. she wondered what it was like out there. beyond the horizon. another gust of wind blew her mane upwards. she blew through her nostrils omitting a soft snort as she eventually found a shady spot and stood there, just watching the waves crash against the shoreline and seagulls dive bombing the ocean surface to catch fish.
As much as she loved living in the southern territories, roughing it and trying to carve a path for her life... The food selection was a bit to be desired. It was difficult finding a spot to graze successfully. Today was one of those days where she only found slim pickings that had already been messed over by others of her species. Arriving late to the buffet left her without anything to eat, shame. It meant she would have to travel a bit further than she was used to, no big deal. The Common Lands were a place where food was a bit more easy to find and the horses, well, the horses were a bit more ambiguous as to where they came from. She supposed it didn't really matter an awful lot when no one was infringing on the other's land. So far no one had stepped up to claim the Common Lands and so she wasn't about to start throwing her weight around and enforce any trespassing rules. Leave that to the ones who enjoyed being on top and barking out orders.
Instead she was here to eat, that was all. She followed the trace scents of saltwater that her nose picked up. It lead her all the way to the beach. She remembered this place when she was a foal, tagging along behind her mother as they wandered about trying to find prime grazing grounds. It was always so beautiful to her then as it was now. The buckskin mare stood along the cliffs, watching as the waves crashed against the shore for a little while before she dipped her head down to eat. Slowly, she made her way across the cliffs with its tasty grass as she meandered closer and closer towards the sand.
It was quite by accident that she ended up working her way towards a tree and very soon that tree managed to attract another of her kind. Great... She thought about wandering elsewhere but decided against it. If she wanted to nibble grass while keeping one eye of the wonderful display of the ocean, then she would do so.
The brown-eyed girl didn't say anything to the company that stood a few yards away, instead she pretended as if she didn't notice her at all and kept her back slightly turned as she continued her busy task of eating as if her life depended on it.
