Season: Summer Year: One
Major Weather: The summer is starting to show signs of being one of the worst yet, with temperatures already climbing and the water beginning to dry up in the furthest reaches of the South.
Faedra had successfully kept herself from being approached by too many horses before she reached an area near the beach. She thought it was quite a beautiful place and would be more than happy to stay here for just a while. She lowered her head, grazing quietly along the cliff, so she could see the salt water below. She did want to go down and go to the beach, to play around in the water, but for now, she wanted to graze. She had plenty of time to get down there since she wasn’t a part of a herd. She continued to graze, every once in a while, lifting her head to look around for any danger that may decide to come her way.
The sun lowered in the sky and, soon enough, the moon and stars would hold court over the skies. Already, the temperature was beginning to drop and while it had not been cold during the day it threatened to be a chilly night. Yet still, Kivuli headed out, the dark-coated stallion drawn from his newly-claimed territory by a need for company. It did not take long for him to reach the neutral lands, and particularly the cliffs above the beach. Once, he had thought this place romantic - he had imagined a stallion and his mate stood on the sands, or atop the cliffs, with the wind pulling through their manes. But now all he saw was the hardships of those who made their homes here as he so recently had. Not knowing who to trust or where to turn. Never being certain of shelter or food. It was no existence.
As he roamed across the grassy top he was distracted by thoughts. What could he do to make things better? Could he even dare to dream of things changing in this land where things had been static for so long? He sighed, lifting his head and then his brown eyes clasped upon the form of another and - going by the scent - a mare at that. He paused, considering for a moment whether an approach was wise then shook the doubt away. He had come here to find some company, so why would he turn away now? Not to mention she was beautiful, he could tell even in this low light. Was she a loner, or did she belong to another herd? Did it really matter anyway?
He slowly drew closer, lowering his head in a gentle greeting. "Hello there."
Perhaps being out in the open when the sun was down wasn’t a smart thing, but the mare knew that if something was going to find her, it’d find her no matter where she was. She’d just mind her own business for now, and if she needed to do anything else, she would when the time came. As she sensed another coming closer, she raised her head and looked around. She could tell, by his scent, that it was a stallion. She kept on alert, keeping her eye on him as he approached closer. He didn’t seem like he was going to harm her, though. Her ears flicked forward, so she could listen to him as he spoke. ”Hello, how are you?” She asked, her eyes looking towards his.
She seemed cautious as he approached, and Kivuli really couldn't blame her. You never knew the intentions of another and, when you were alone, it was important to be on guard. But she seemed gentle enough, and he offered a smile in an attempt to be reassuring.
"I am well, thank you for asking, and yourself? My name is Kivuli, by the way." It would have been rude not to introduce himself now, although he would remain quiet about his new herd for now as he didn't wish to come across as pushy. After all, there was still the possibility she had a home elsewhere.
His tail flicked lazily behind him, his audits flicking to the sound of rolling waves below. He took another step forward, taking a mouthful of sweet green grass. It was a good time to enjoy such a luxury as soon enough food would become scarce once more.
"Forgive me if I seem rude, but do you come here often?" He knew he had, but he couldn't remember seeing her before. Surely he would have remembered, a beauty such as she could not be so easily forgotten.
Faedra kept a careful eye on the stallion, but wasn’t judging him too much. He didn’t seem to be a harmful stallion at all, but she was still going to keep her wits about her. Hearing him speak again, she listened more, glad to know the stallion’s name. “I am well.” She started, pausing for a moment. “My name is Faedra, it is nice to meet you Kivuli.” She said softly, always in the soft manner she’d been her whole life.
She kept her tail still for the most part, really just focusing on the stallion in front of her as she didn’t want to have misread his judgement, but for the most part so far, it didn’t seem as she had.
His next question, however, proved that he didn’t really have any ill intention of approaching her. “No…I just got here a couple days ago. I’ve been wandering.” She said softly in response, her eyes watching him as a hind leg cocked in relaxation thought she’d still be able to run if she needed.
